This is a Great Looking and Very Unusual Antique Bronze Desk Top Letter Clip. Circa Very Early 20th Century. It is Rendered in the Classic Austrian – German Arts & Crafts Style. The Figurative Stag Beetle is Solid Cast in Bronze and it has a Spring Loaded Clamp to Tightly Hold Letters – Messages Etc that can be Opened by Pushing Down on the Rear of the Beetle. The Repousse Base is Comprised of Acorns – Oak Leaves and The Beetles Legs. This is a Very Good Quality Piece with Wonderful Attention to Detail in the Features. It is Embossed – Signed with a Makers Mark ? ( Winged Lion ) That I Could Not Identify – This Can Best be Seen in The Last – 12th Photograph in my Listing. Based on my Many Years in the Antique Business I can Confidently Say that its Origin is Either Austria or Germany – However Most Likely Austrian. It is in Excellent Overall Cosmetic and Functional Condition. It Still Retains its Original Patina that is in Excellent Condition as Well. It also has its Original Green Felt on the Bottom. It Displays Beautifully. It Measures Overall Approx. 1 1/4 inches Tall x 4 5/8 inches Long x 2 5/8 inches Wide.
